Welcome to another edition of Field Notes! This month, we’re featuring some new crop coffees available for forward bookings. We’ve also got an update from Costa Rica and a some spot coffee highlights.
New Crop Coffee On The Way
We’ve reached the time of year when the coffees on our offer sheet’s “incoming” page start to vastly outnumber those on the spot page. While the early indications are that this year might be a little easier on roasters than last year, we’re still dealing with the lingering effects of that volatility. What we said in our FAQ back in November still stands — coffees are moving fast once they land. With harvests finishing up across Central America, it’s a good idea to get any larger volumes you’ll need for 2026 booked sooner rather than later. With that in mind, here are a few highlights that will begin shipping soon.
Costa Rica
As we mentioned in last month’s newsletter, the production in the Los Santos region has been quite low this year, but we still have some regional options available: El Indio, from small producers around San Marcos, and Doña Isa BRT, our women-produced Los Santos offering. We also have coffee coming in from our farms Hacienda La Pradera, Hacienda Rio Negro — including a new peaberry selection — and of course Hacienda La Minita.
Guatemala
We’ve got quite a bit of coffee shipping from Guatemala over the next few months, including our regional offerings Organic Candelaria Huehuetenango, Organic San Martin Jilotepeque, and La Flor del Cafe Antigua. These coffees are staples with so many of our customers and offer consistent high quality year after year.
Mexico
The washed and honey-processed coffees from our partners at La Laja in Veracruz have developed a big following over the last few years, and we have a few shipments heading this way soon. No matter which processing method you choose, these are always excellent coffees with plenty of sweetness and body.
These, along with many other great options, are available for forward booking now! If you’re interested in any of these coffees or would like more information, contact your salesperson or reach out to us via the form on our website. We’d love to hear from you!
This Month in Costa Rica
February is always busy at our farms and mills in Costa Rica. Our team has been hosting customers at La Minita throughout the harvest season, and it’s been great to see so many friends old and new.
The harvest is wrapping up, and while production has been lower than average in much of the Los Santos region, La Minita has seen excellent production this year. And most importantly, the cup quality is outstanding. We’re excited to share it with you soon!
