Our purchasing decisions are based on much more than simply price and delivery terms. We purchase as directly as possible, at the nearest point to the producer. This helps to eliminate unnecessary costs and provides the majority of money to the ones most responsible for actual production of our coffees.

We give preference to producers and producer groups who exhibit commitments to local social issues, including worker health and safety, environmental stewardship, dedication to quality, and concern for the health and sustainability of future crops and yields.

We support producers and producer groups who carry third party certification at the farm or mill level where possible. We always purchase in compliance with the standards of the certification body for our own certified supply, which may include Organic, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance or others.

We strive to give special consideration and preference to purchases that support and contribute to the spirit of the United Nations 17 sustainable development goals to transform our world.

La Minita’s ultimate goal in sourcing is to procure the highest quality coffee available that also meets as many of the above criteria as possible.
