Costa Rica Microlots Coming Soon!

The arrival season for Central America is winding down, but some of our most-anticipated coffees of the year are still on the way — our microlots from Costa Rica! Each harvest, our team works to produce these unique coffees, which require special care and attention. Renowned varieties such as Villa Sarchi and Geisha, alternative processes, and selections from notable partner farms are all present here, and we’re excited to share them with you. Here’s an overview of what’s on the water.

Hacienda La Minita
From La Minita, we have three coffees from the Melico lot, one of the highest-elevation areas of the farm. A washed Geisha, a Red Honey Geisha, and a washed Villa Sarchi. The Geishas are more complex and vibrant than ever this year, and the Villa Sarchi is a perennial favorite of our customers.

Hacienda La Pradera
La Pradera has often been a place for our team to test new varieties, and this year we had excellent results with a naturally-processed Pacamara. We also produced a washed Red Bourbon and Red Honey Caturra, which are sure to be crowd-pleasers.

Other Farms
After some successful testing last year, we are offering our first microlot from Hacienda Rio Negro this year: a washed Obata Amarillo. This variety performs exceptionally at Rio Negro and displays a complex profile with lots of fruit, florality, and sweetness. We also have a natural San Isidro 48 from Finca Corralar, our farm in Palmichal, and a Black Honey Catuai/Obata from our partners Finca El Rinconcito.

This Month in Costa Rica

This time of year is a busy one at our farms and mills, where preparations for the next harvest are ongoing. This month, our farm staff has been working on lot renovations at all of our farms, transplanting seedlings and making sure they are set up for success.

We’re also glad to announce that our operations in Costa Rica have been recognized as Carbon Neutral by the Ministry of Environment and Energy for the second year in a row. We initially received this recognition in 2024, and we’re proud to see that our investments in sustainability continue to be successful.
