Welcome to another edition of Field Notes! In this month’s newsletter, we’re highlighting some recent arrivals that are available now. We also have an update from Costa Rica and a note on July 4th closures.
Summer Spot Roundup
We’re halfway through 2025, and Summer is in full swing! It’s been a busy year so far in the coffee world and the arrivals season is continuing at full steam. We’re receiving new shipments every week, so we wanted to use this newsletter to highlight a few standout coffees that are available now.
Costa Rica
Since they were last featured in our March newsletter, our Doña Isa coffees have arrived and are available on both coasts now. These women-produced lots from Los Santos and Coto Brus have received rave reviews from our customers and have quickly become favorites of our team.
Guatemala
Our shipments from Guatemala have begun to arrive, and we have a couple of nice smallholder-produced lots available – La Flor del Café Antigua at the Annex and Dupuy Houston, and Organic Candelaria Huehuetenango at the Annex. These are both excellent coffees that can shine as single-origin offerings or blending options.
Colombia
As we await more new arrivals from Huila, we have some smaller quantities available from partners in Nariño. On the East Coast, Nariño Select — a versatile smallholder-produced offering that shows off the region’s trademark profile. And on the West Coast, we have a few bags remaining from Finca Matarredonda. We have a long partnership with this Rainforest Alliance certified farm, and their coffees always impress with their quality and sweetness.
These, along with many other great coffees, are available now! If you’re interested in any of these coffees or would like more information, contact your salesperson or reach out to us via the form on our website. We’d love to hear from you!
This Month in Costa Rica
At Hacienda Rio Negro, we have roughly 890 acres of coffee in production — about 1,800,000 coffee trees. With this many plants to look after, we are always looking for ways to improve efficiency on the farm. This year, we are experimenting with some of our lot renovations by adding terraces and increasing the width between rows. This will allow our team to use a tractor to manage the plants, which means less manual labor will be required to achieve the same great quality of coffee.
JULY 4TH WAREHOUSE CLOSURES
La Minita’s office will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Our warehouse partners will also be closed for the holiday, which may cause minor delays in shipping times for orders submitted earlier in the week.
That’s all for this month’s edition. Thanks for reading, and as always, if there’s anything we can do for you, reach out to your salesperson or fill out our contact form and we’ll get right back to you. See you next month!
