April 2019 saw a pretty amazing flowering at La Minita, confirming our guesses about the size of the upcoming harvest. 2018/19 was a tough year for production in the Tarrazu valley, and our off year in our 2 year cycle. 2019/20 is slated to be a bigger year and so far all indications are that this will come to pass.
Russ visited in June and shot this photo of a section of the farm where the trees are large enough and so heavy with cherry that they are using sticks to prop up the branches!
Ricky has already made commitments with our regular picker groups to schedule them a little longer this year, and add a few extra people. We have to hope the maturation occurs evenly and we don’t see a big fast ripening happen in a short time. That would make it difficult to get everything picked all at once.
